It can be a bit loud, but the food is delicious and it has such a wonderful history. I enjoy going here a lot.

I stayed across the street so went in looking for an easy dinner. It was packed but I was able to snag a seat at the bar and decided to order food to go and have a beer while I waited. The beer was good and the bartender was super nice. It's definitely a cool atmosphere but a little loud. My pasta came quickly and I made my way home to eat it but was disappointed in the quality. The penne pasta lacked in flavor and had barely any chicken in it. The garlic bread was good though. For the price though, probably not worth it.

We went for a quick lunch and was thoroughly impressed with how quick and delicious our food was. Our sandwiches were tasty and we enjoyed the different bread options. The fries were unseasoned, but the cajun fries were a little too seasoned (just a heads up). The crab soup was delicious!!! Service was great as the server was very helpful navigating food options. Ambiance was a true hole in the wall/pub feel. Great place!

Found this restaurant on Yelp while I was coming through the area and I now know why it has such high stars!! I'd definitely eat here again!! Food was amazing, staff so friendly and the food came out quick! We got fried pickles to start which were piping hot and oh so tasty! The ranch was great! I got the Honey Chicken Pasta which was in a bacon tomato cream sauce...IT WAS HEAVEN!!! I've never had a sauce that good before! My mom got the blackened catfish sandwich with broccoli slaw and she said it was so very good! Loved this place!! Please go give it a try!

The seating arrangements are tight, but it's a popular spot; I went for lunch on a Thursday, and it was packed. I ordered the Blackened Catfish Sandwich (Catfish fillet blackened and served on a Brioche bun with Jamaican relish, lettuce, tomato, onion, and Creole tarter sauce) and the Spicy Crab Soup as my side. The sandwich was delicious; the fish was seasoned well and had the perfect texture. The soup was good, but it wasn't really spicy nor did it have much crab. The service was nice, with our waitress checking on the table several times.

A true hole in the wall! We came across this tavern while walking through the Fourth Ward Secret Garden Tour. It was a nice stop after walking through the neighborhood. It's tucked away on a corner, I would say street parking only, though you could Uber and it's pretty central within Fourth Ward. We ordered drinks and an app - the DC Potato Wedges - which really hit the spot. Prices were reasonable and the building itself is pretty cool, dating back into the 1800s. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Definitely enjoyed the experience and would love to return to check out more of the menu!

Great "whole in the wall" local restaurant, with a great vibe. We knew walking in that the food would gonna be good. The lunch menu was simple. 4 apps, sandwiches, salads, and soups. I ordered the London Broil Sandwich as recommended medium. I added mushrooms and sautéed onions, add tomatoes. It was a little chewy just as the waiter started but good and the hoagie bread was soft and yummy. The loaded potato soup was creamy with cheese and crumbled bacon on top. The hubby ordered the Half Pound Burg with the three cheese blend, sautéed onions, and bacon, and bit was it a lot of yummy, crispy bacon; he LOVED it. The onion rings were cooked to perfection, light, fluffy, and delicious.

This place has been an Uptown staple for over 40 years and it's easy to see why. No fancy tables or drinks, just good food, beer and great staff! I went in before the football games yesterday and even at 3pm on a Saturday there was a good crowd! Testament to how good they are. The vibe is casual and super relaxed so no need to dress up I got the London Broil sandwich medium rare. It was huge! Packed with perfectly tender steak with cheese and peppers. I was blown away. I could barely finish it. If you find yourself in Uptown, get there. It's one of the few local restaurants that have been around for over 40 years, it deserves our business!
